Some claims are approved quickly. Others involve delays, denials, appeals, or years of frustration.
Along the way, veterans often ask the same questions:

Valuable lessons are often buried in old conversations, online forums, and social media posts where they can easily be lost.
What We're Doing
The Veteran Journey Project is collecting real experiences from veterans who have navigated the VA disability claims process.
Our goal is simple:
Preserve what veterans have learned so future veterans can learn from it too.
As responses are collected, we'll look for common themes, challenges, lessons learned, and resources veterans found helpful.

Who Can Participate?
There are no "wrong" experiences.
A frustrating experience can be just as valuable as a successful one.
Your experience matters if you have ever:
Filed a VA disability claim
Received a denial
Submitted an appeal
Worked with a VSO, DAV, CVSO, attorney, or representative
Had a claim pending for an extended period
Successfully received benefits
Chosen not to file a claim
Privacy
Please do not include Social Security numbers, financial information, or other sensitive personal details.
Responses are collected for informational purposes only and any findings shared publicly will be presented anonymously.
