Vet2Vet Peer Support
What began as an effort to help veterans navigate complex systems and connect with trusted resources grew into a veteran-centered organization focused on connection, clarity, and community.
Vet2Vet became the foundation for the Digital Modernization initiative, providing the opportunity to develop and refine approaches to resource organization, information architecture, accessibility, and community-focused design.
VFW Post 5540
Building on the experience gained through Vet2Vet, modernization efforts for VFW Post 5540 focused on improving organization, navigation, and accessibility while creating stronger pathways for communication, community engagement, and member involvement.
The project demonstrated how thoughtful digital modernization can help mission-driven organizations better connect with the people they serve.
U.S. Military Women Veterans
The modernization of U.S. Military Women Veterans focused on improving accessibility, resource navigation, organizational messaging, and community engagement while honoring the organization's mission, history, and identity.
The project expanded access to support resources and strengthened opportunities for connection, participation, and advocacy within the women veteran community.

Community Impact Award Program
The Vet2Vet Digital Modernization initiative provides limited pro bono digital modernization support to selected organizations whose missions align with our values and commitment to community impact.
To ensure each project receives meaningful attention and support, a limited number of organizations may be selected each year.
What Is Included
Selected organizations may receive support in areas such as:
Website modernization recommendations
Information architecture and navigation improvements
Resource organization and accessibility enhancements
Content organization and mission messaging
Branding and visual consistency recommendations
Community engagement and usability improvements
Digital governance and sustainability recommendations
Each project begins with an assessment and a customized modernization presentation outlining recommendations and proposed improvements.
Expectations
Organizations selected for consideration should be prepared to:
Participate in project discussions and planning
Provide timely feedback and requested information
Designate a primary point of contact
Support implementation efforts when applicable
Maintain responsibility for ongoing website administration unless otherwise agreed
Eligibility Requirements
Preference may be given to:
Veteran-serving organizations
Military-affiliated nonprofits
Community support organizations
Peer support initiatives
Mission-driven nonprofits with demonstrated community impact
Organizations must have a clearly defined mission, active leadership support, and a willingness to participate throughout the project.
Important Information
Selection is not guaranteed. Submission of an application does not guarantee acceptance into the initiative.
Limited availability. The initiative is currently limited to approximately one project per quarter based on volunteer capacity and organizational needs.
Project timelines are not guaranteed. While we strive to complete projects efficiently, most projects can be completed within approximately 30 days when organizations provide requested information and feedback in a timely manner.
Recommendations are provided as a package. Organizations will receive a modernization presentation containing findings, recommendations, and design concepts. Minor clarification adjustments may be made when appropriate, but the initiative does not provide unlimited revisions or repeated redesign cycles.
Design concepts are illustrative. Presentation materials may include mockups, sample layouts, AI-generated visual concepts, and other examples intended to demonstrate recommendations. Recommended designs may differ from final implementation.
Implementation is optional. Following presentation of recommendations, organizations may:
Decline the recommendations
Implement the recommendations independently
Request implementation support from Vet2Vet when available
Technology and design outcomes cannot be guaranteed. Every organization is unique. While recommendations are designed to improve accessibility, organization, engagement, and usability, specific outcomes cannot be guaranteed.
Experience and transparency. The Digital Modernization initiative is built on practical experience gained through the creation of Vet2Vet Peer Support and modernization projects completed for veteran-serving and community organizations. While every project is approached thoughtfully and professionally, recommendations are provided on a volunteer basis, and specific outcomes cannot be guaranteed.
AI-assisted content. Artificial intelligence tools may be used to assist with content development, visual concepts, mockups, graphics, research organization, or other project materials. Final recommendations are reviewed by Vet2Vet before presentation.
Liability. Vet2Vet provides recommendations and support on a volunteer basis. Organizations remain responsible for final decisions, implementation, website administration, platform costs, legal compliance, accessibility compliance, and ongoing maintenance.
